At 1on1financial, three of our biggest passions are financial planning, biking, and giving back to the community. We’re fortunate enough to be able to combine these, whether we’re biking for charity, helping clients invest for their future, or providing financial education in the community. Here, I’d like to highlight just two of the ways our team is involved in our community.
Ride for Rwanda
On April 29th, we had the honor and pleasure of participating in the 10th Annual Ride for Rwanda. On a beautiful day in Mission Viejo, me and thousands of other avid bikers rode 50 miles to raise funds and build awareness for Team Africa Rising and World Bicycle Relief, two nonprofits that incorporate cycling into their mission. Team Africa Rising’s mission is to unify African countries through the sport of cycling, and World Bicycle Relief is dedicated to mobilizing people through the power of bicycles.
The Rwandan ride started as a small event in 2006 and has since evolved into one of the largest mountain bike events in Southern California. From the first nine events, Ride for Rwanda has raised over $720,000 for Team Africa Rising and World Bicycle Relief, with the funds used to further the economic development of Rwanda and other African nations through initiatives based on the bicycle as a tool and symbol of hope. I love supporting organizations such as these while simultaneously spreading the word on the joy and pleasure of biking. The Society for Financial Awareness
We believe that education is key to taking an active role in your financial strategies and making informed decisions. As a result, we dedicate much of our time to education. As a member of SOFA (Society for Financial Awareness), a 501(c)3 non-profit, I regularly provide financial education workshops to businesses and their employees across the country. These seminars help satisfy the Department of Labor's ERISA 404(c) requirements that many companies need if offering any type of Defined Contribution Pension Plan to their employees. The workshop topics range from "Getting Fiscally Fit," "Financial Blunders," and "Exploring Your Options for a Quality Retirement," to "Solving Debt," "College Planning," and many others.
These complimentary, non-selling events are designed to educate employees on finance and help them make appropriate decisions towards ensuring a greater quality of life and financial future. Later this month, I’ll be visiting La Sierra University in Riverside to host my next event. I am proud to be a member of SOFA and have the ability to help so many people with understanding their retirement plans and other components of their financial planning.
Does your business need financial education? Contact my office to learn more about setting up a complimentary financial workshop for your employees. Or, if you just want to learn more about ways 1on1financial gives back to our community, send us an email or give us a call at 909-981-1720.
